| Zero Balancing comes from the inspiration of one man. Dr. Fritz Smith was originally a doctor and osteopath but his medical model was challenged in the early 1970s when he observed Dr. J R Worsley demonstrating acupuncture in America. | |

He became fascinated by energy work and subsequently trained as an acupuncturist. His respect for both Eastern and Western approaches to healing then led him to look for a way of integrating them into a single way of working. Dr. Smith's original insight was that the relationship between energy and structure is fundamental to health. He developed a form of bodywork he called Zero Balancing that would enable practitioners to engage energy and structure simultaneously through conscious touch. The name came about when someone receiving his work described the experience as being brought back to balance, like a return to zero. |
Since then he has taught practitioners in many countries how to use Zero Balancing, and trained teachers to carry on his work. He continues to develop Zero Balancing and teaches Advanced workshops around the world. "We have an energy body and a physical body, and they are two different bodies ... If you have energy and structure, there must be an interface between them. If you learn to touch the place where energy and structure meet, you are touching the form and aspect of the individual". Fritz Smith, Massage magazine, Issue 52, Nov 1994. |
